How to Place a First Wholesale Underwear Order Without Overcommitting
A practical walk-through for buyers placing a first wholesale underwear order: how to size the test, what to confirm with your supplier, and how to keep the first order small enough to learn from.

A first order is a test, not a commitment. The goal is to learn how a style sells, how it fits your market, and how your supplier performs — without tying up cash in inventory you cannot move.
Start With the Range, Not the Volume
Pick a small number of styles that cover the shapes your buyers already ask for — a wireless everyday bra, a strapless option, a shaping piece. It is easier to reorder a style that works than to clear one that does not.
Confirm the Terms Before You Commit
Before confirming, ask your supplier to state, per style: the minimum quantity and how it is counted (per style, per colour, or mixed), the available size range and colourways, and the realistic dispatch time. Ask for these in writing so nothing is assumed.
The most expensive first order is the one you place before the terms are clear.
Size the Test to the Market
Match the first quantity to how you will sell it — a marketplace listing, your own store, or a wholesale customer. Keep enough to measure demand, but not so much that a slow style becomes dead stock.
What to Send With Your Enquiry
Send the style references you are considering, your estimated quantity, your destination country, and your timeline. That is enough for a supplier to come back with options and a clear next step.
